A Complete DIY Guide to Repair Partition Wall in Low Cost

Tools:

• Hammer
• Large-bladed filler knife
• Nail gun (if using one)
• Pencil
• Saw

Materials:

• 100mm oval nails or screws
• Appropriate lengths of stud-work timber
• Joining compound
• Jointing tape (scrim tape)
• Plasterboard
• Sharp knife

Fixing the bottom plate:

The first thing that you need to repair is the floor plate or, also known as the endplate. Make sure to cut the plaster straight, and it is in its place. If it is not screwed accurately, then you have to take a nail gun and fasten it to its position. It is suitable if you secure the floor plate at 900mm intervals.

Fixing the head plate:

Now that you have the floor plate installed correctly, and now it is time to fix the head plate of the door. The head plate is the top piece of the door that you have to install on the top of the door. Search a fixed place where you want to fix the head plate. Mark the place where you want to fit the joist.

Fixing your walls studs:

Now the last point is to fix the walls studs on your partition door. The studs are the pieces that join the head plate and the floor plate of your door. They are placed vertically on the door. You have to make sure they are in their positions so that you can move the door quickly.

Fixing the intermediate studs:

Intermediate studs place is in between the floor plate and the head plate. It is advisable to add a measurement of 2mm. It will guarantee a full grip and tight fit of your door. Remember to fit your intermediate studs at 400mm center if you plan on using 9.5mm plasterboard. If you are using 12.5mm, then your studs should be at 600mm center instead of 400mm.
